The best TAG Heuer for most people is the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph at £3,200: solar-powered, 40mm and easy to live with. If you want a mechanical watch, the Carrera starts at £3,600 here, and the Carrera Chronograph Sport is £5,500.

Who TAG Heuer suits

TAG Heuer is the LVMH group's Swiss watch brand with a motor-racing history. It suits someone who wants a recognisable sports watch below Omega prices, and its Solargraph models suit anyone who would rather not wind or service an automatic.

Which TAG Heuer to choose

Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph: a 40mm diver powered by light, £3,200; there is a 34mm version at £3,350. Carrera: the dressier, racing-inspired line, from the 29mm at £3,600 to the Chronograph Sport at £5,500. Monaco: the square chronograph; it wasn't in our Goldsmiths read, so it has a search link here.

The 41mm ice-blue Carrera at £3,950 is listed by Goldsmiths as a limited edition exclusive to them, so you won't find it at other dealers.

What to know before buying

  • Solargraph is solar quartz: keep it in daylight now and then and it keeps running.
  • TAG Heuer's warranty term depends on the model; ask the dealer before you buy.
  • Limited editions sell out and are not usually restocked.
  • TAG Heuer list prices have risen in recent years; check the dealer's page for today's.

Servicing

The Solargraph quartz models need little: new seals and a water-resistance test every few years if you swim with one. A mechanical watch wants a full service every several years: it is taken apart, cleaned, re-oiled, regulated and pressure-tested. Use the brand's own service centre or a dealer that sends it there, ask for the current price list before you commit, and keep the paperwork with the watch: a service history helps if you ever sell it.

Questions

What is the cheapest TAG Heuer in the UK?

Of the models we read, the Aquaracer Professional 100 Solargraph 28mm at £2,550 (Goldsmiths, 6 Nov 2026).

Is a solar TAG Heuer still a luxury watch?

Yes. Being quartz rather than mechanical changes how it is powered, not how it is made or finished; it is also more accurate and cheaper to own.

Carrera or Aquaracer?

The Aquaracer is the sports and dive watch; the Carrera is dressier. For one watch for everything, most people pick the Aquaracer.
